    1.a)i)P: Cell wall

    Q:Vacuole

    ii)Structure P: cellulose

    Content Q: water

    b)-P is rigid.

-Thus even when there’s excess water in the cell, its shape is maintained.

    c) “herbaceous plants are typically plants without a woody stem”

-Water diffuses into Q (vacuole) via osmosis.

-This creates turgor pressure within the cell.

-This provides support for the plant as the vacuole expands and pushes the plasma membrane along with its cell contents up against the cell wall.

    d)i)Cell specialization

ii)-Xylem vessels are hollow and continuous. They connect from the roots to the shoots.

-Allowing water to be transported right up to the shoots.

-Furthermore, their cell walls are thickened by lignin so food substances would not enter the xylem vessels.
